How we helped Anthony, who was already our client at Cameracal Services, launch a dedicated second site for his Lightroom training practice, reaching photographers who need confidence in the edit as much as sharpness in the lens.
We detailed the work that we did for Cameracal, Anthony’s first business peviously. The work we did on that site was about connecting photographers who had a nagging sense that something was off with their images to the person best placed to fix it at the hardware level.
But getting a camera calibrated and sharp is only part of the picture. What happens afterwards, in the edit, matters just as much. And Adobe Lightroom, for all its power as a post-processing tool, is one of those applications that photographers either feel in command of or perpetually bewildered by. The gap between knowing that Lightroom is where your images should end up and actually knowing what to do with them when they get there is one that a significant number of photographers, amateur and professional alike, never quite close. They develop habits, muddle through, and never quite feel confident that they’re getting the most out of their files.
Anthony has spent over a decade using and teaching Lightroom alongside his calibration work, and The Lightroom Specialist grew out of a recognition that this was a service in its own right — distinct from Cameracal, with its own audience and its own proposition. Photographers who need Lightroom support don’t necessarily need a calibration service, and vice versa. Two separate websites, each doing one thing clearly and well, was the right approach. Anthony came back to Three Girls Media to build the second one.
The web design started from a clear positioning statement that runs through everything Anthony does: expert guidance, delivered calmly and clearly. Lightroom is powerful software with a learning curve that can feel steep, particularly for photographers who came to it later in their shooting journey or who taught themselves in an unsystematic way. The audience arriving at The Lightroom Specialist website would often be people who felt a degree of frustration or self-consciousness about their Lightroom skills; photographers who knew they weren’t getting the most out of the tool, but weren’t sure exactly where they were going wrong. The site needed to meet them where they were: reassuring rather than intimidating, structured rather than overwhelming, and specific enough to communicate that Anthony’s approach would actually solve their problem.
The service range was presented across three distinct areas. Lightroom training covers the one-to-one sessions at the heart of the offer – personalised, structured, and built around each photographer’s specific workflow, setup, and goals. Whether a client needs help with initial configuration, catalogue management, the development module, export workflows, or the full process from import to final image, Anthony works through it methodically and at the pace that suits the person in front of him. Lightroom support addresses the ongoing questions and issues that arise after a training session, or for photographers who simply need targeted help with a specific problem rather than a structured programme. And the Lightroom Plugins section introduces a diagnostic tool in development – a catalogue analyser designed to identify issues and inefficiencies that photographers often don’t even know they have.
The tone throughout mirrors Anthony’s teaching style: patient, precise, and never condescending. Lightroom attracts a wide range of users, from people who have just made the jump to mirrorless and are wrestling with their first RAW files, to experienced photographers who have been using the software for years but developed habits they’d like to revisit. The website needed to speak to all of them. Accessible enough for the less technically confident, credible enough for the more experienced. The credentials that establish that credibility, 35 years of photographic experience, a decade of Lightroom teaching, and the technical depth that comes from Anthony’s broader work with camera systems, are woven throughout without being laboured.
The SEO strategy was built around the searches photographers make when they reach the limit of what YouTube tutorials and trial-and-error can fix – the moment they decide they want personalised, expert help rather than another generic walkthrough. Lightroom training, Lightroom support, and the specific workflow questions that come up repeatedly in that context gave us a clear and well-defined keyword landscape to work with, connecting The Lightroom Specialist with the photographers most likely to benefit from exactly what Anthony offers.
The Lightroom Specialist launched as a clean, focused, easy-to-navigate site that does exactly what a specialist training service needs a website to do: communicate clearly who it’s for, what it offers, and why Anthony is the right person to learn from. Photographers who land on it quickly understand that this isn’t a generic online course or a library of tutorial videos — it’s a genuinely personal service, delivered by someone who brings exceptional technical knowledge and a calm, structured teaching approach to every session.
For Anthony, the project demonstrated something that the Cameracal build had already suggested: that two complementary services can share the same audience without sharing the same website. Cameracal and The Lightroom Specialist serve photographers, but they serve different needs at different moments in the photographic process. Keeping them separate keeps each site focused — and a focused site is almost always a more effective one.
Working with Anthony again was straightforward in the best sense. We already understood how he worked, what he valued, and what a good outcome looked like. The challenge this time was applying that understanding to a different proposition and a different set of search behaviours — and producing a site that stood on its own as a clear, credible home for a distinct and genuinely useful service.
